NUTS for example has trains with like 100 years livetime and these are really fast (not that realistic). And it has a train with 2000km/h speed, but I can't pull other wagons, it was made for logical circuits.Īs others have said, Iron Horse and Road Hog are probably the most gameplay balanced with FIRS since they are from the same creator - I would say there are more interesting train sets out there, but it's a good place to start. My suggestion for using realistic trains is to increase the "weight multiplier for freight" physics setting to 4 or 5, that makes the power/traction of an engine a more relevant (so you can't just transport heavy cargo with your fastest train).Īnd sort of related, how well balanced are the various vehicle GRFs with each other? I imagine the pricing/stats of various vehicles will differ, making some GRFs not really work together, even if they technically don't conflict. Is that actually the case?īest rule of thumb is to stick to one of each type of GRF (i.e. Maybe the best start is to tell your favourite game style and, with this, someone may help you more.Don't have two sets of trains) unless they're specifically designed to work together or you're sure of what you're doing. All in the series of OpenGFX+ is really recomended (but my favourites are landscape, industries, cars and trains).Īnd, I previously said, every person have his favourites. Is crazy, even in small configurations are too heavy and complex. Only one thing, every 32bpp set is really heavy in size and need more memory on your computer to work with them The bad part of 32bppĪnd for industries, don't start with FIRS or ECS. With the extra of something new that maybe you don't know, is the Cars Series (born in last months of 2015) With this you have cars and some eyecandy and, if you use Cars Cars, has a special feature never seen before in OTTD: Vehicles with variable snow in them. ![]() Best GRF packages that work well together. The first is mostly updated but second has photosĪnd you return to the game since a long time ago, the best option that covers your main desire:
